My interdependent relationship with my neighbours furry

We moved into this property a few months ago. It was love at first virtual sight.

The house came with a very serious furry, named Dave. He moved in, without warning. He adopted us, it wasn’t optional. I checked with his actual family and she explained her daughter was visiting with her dog. That was 8 months ago. Her daughter left after two months. Dave has not gone home. He managed to claw himself deep into our hearts.

I have as many pictures of him on my phone as I have of my children and I’ve had them for 19 and 16 years . Davey likes to go for walks. I find it impossible to fall asleep if he’s not at home if he goes for his midnight walks.

We had to travel to London for 3 days this week. We were constantly discussing how we miss him and wondering what he was up to. When we finally came home, he was not here. Al 3 of us ,kept on opening the front door every 5–10 minutes, calling him. At about 24:05 he showed up at the front door. The next morning he was headbutting both my husband and I. He plopped himself ontop of both of us and refused to move.

I never realised cheating can feel this good, albeit with permission.

Thank you for taking the time to be here.
